Council requested information from Staff regarding accessory dwellings, and parking and infrastructure implications, such as septic, water capacities, etc. of additional dwellings on properties with respect to proposed changes. 

Staff indicated that this is high level concepts that will be instituted by the regulations that will be developed later.  Conservation Authority requirements across authorities are expected to be aligned through the proposed changes.

Council requested information on unopened road allowance and the number of trees being suggested.  The number of trees suggested is in line with the green space requirements of the Township. 

Council discussed the costs associated with replanting the road allowance and whether the space has been considered for a walking or other recreation trail.  Council discussed planting 1000 trees instead of the estimated 2000 trees suggested, and planting in such a way as to permit the area to be considered for future recreation trail use.

Councillor McGugan attended a Rural Conference in Brussels regarding accessible housing.  The conference was mainly addressed financial accessibility or affordability of housing. 

Rural Medicine was also covered at this conference and Councillor Abbott attended that session.  

Council discussed higher density development as a future consideration and development of gravel pits as residential areas. 

Staff indicated that November 18th is the time to provide comments to the Building Better Homes Act.  The Official Plan and Strategic plan are due to be updated in 2023 and will provide an opportunity for Council to address these types of considerations.
